Prof. Olufemi Sunmonu

Professor Olufemi Sunmonu (BSc. Strath., PhD Leeds, FTRAN; FMSN)
Professor Olufemi Sunmonu is currently engaged as:
Technical Consultant, National Cotton Association of Nigeria (NACOTAN)
National Consultant (Textiles), Federal Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment (FMITI, Nigeria for the Cotton, Textile and Garment (CTG) Revitalization Project, supported by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
He started his academic career in 1970 at the Kaduna Polytechnic, Nigeria, where he obtained a National Diploma in Textile Technology (1972).
Thereafter, he proceeded to the Huddersfield Polytechnic in England where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in Textile Technology with supplementary Certificate in Engineering and Control (1975).
He was awarded a scholarship to study for a BSc (Hon) Degree in Fibre Science at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
He proceeded to the world-famous University of Leeds where he obtained his research degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Fibre and Polymer Chemistry (1982).
Prior to his current engagement, he had taught and conducted research at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria-Nigeria from 1982 to 2020, where he mentored several Masters and Doctoral students who are now Professionals and Professors in their own
right.
He had Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Leeds, Bolton, NARICT and Kaduna State University.
He had been a Resource Person for both the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) and the African Organization for Standardisation (ARSO), for several years.
Professor Sunmonu has authored several scholarly journal articles and books on the interactions of fibres and polymers with additives.
His current research focus is the entire CTG value chain.

Worked as Head of Agricultural Banking in a Merchant Bank. A Director on the Board of a Commercial Bank.
Visited and studied agricultural projects in the 36 States of Nigeria, and in 23 countries on the five Continents of the world.
An Alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Edinburgh, Scotland and Imperial College University of London.
